August 11th, 2024, marked the auspicious launch of the Vishwamrit project in Punlar, a collaborative initiative between the Vishwakarma Navothan Foundation and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. This project is designed to provide vocational training to the women of the community, with the aim of fostering self-reliance and enhancing livelihood opportunities.
The inaugural event, which drew a crowd of over 80 community members from the nearby districts of Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha, began with the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony. The lamp was lit by Br. Vishweshwaramrita Chaitanya, the in-charge of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Mulavana, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and the beginning of a new chapter for the women of Punlar.
Empowering Women through Skill Development
The Vishwamrit project currently offers a 5-month tailoring course, which has already seen the enrollment of around 30 women from the community. This course is the first of many vocational training programs planned under the project, aimed at equipping women with the skills needed to achieve economic independence and improve their quality of life.

The event was graced by several esteemed guests who emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment and skill development. Smt. Jayshree Babu, Joint Secretary of the Vishwakarma Navothan Foundation, welcomed the attendees with an inspiring speech, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings.
Other notable speakers included Sri N. Gopalakrishnan, Treasurer of VNF Kollam District, Sri V. Rajendran, State General Secretary of VNF, Sri Jayaprakash V. S, Founder Member and Chairman of VNF, Sri Arun Raj, Chairman of VNF CoC Kerala & CMD of Orisys Academy, and Sri Saji. K, State Secretary of VNF CoC. Their speeches highlighted the significance of the Vishwamrit project and the positive impact it is expected to have on the lives of women in the community.
Smt. Shalini T S, Zonal Coordinator of AMMACHI Labs, also addressed the gathering, providing detailed insights into AMMACHI Labs’ various projects and initiatives. She emphasized the importance of vocational training and the role it plays in empowering women, expressing her enthusiasm for the future success of the Vishwamrit project.
