Avsar-SANKALP Project
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India in collaboration with the World Bank has created the “SANKALP” project (Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion)
WADI Project
With a broad vision to work with the farmers and landless people for the tribal communities in Odisha, the WADI project was formulated. In all its hues, the project is being implemented in the tribal hinterland in Hindol Block of Dhenkanal District,
The SMART SHG Project
The large-scale program of the Government of India, the National Rural Livelihood Mission, has led to the formation of above 7 million Self-Help Groups (SHG) meant to support women’s economic growth through easy and affordable access
Gender Conversations Workshops
The Gender Conversation Workshop series addresses the issue of gender equality, masculinity, and mental health at the individual, household, and community levels. The ultimate purpose is to promote the wellbeing of the CRPF servicemen and women and improve their overall morale.
DST Digital@ikya Project
This project aims to complement existing pedagogical approaches in rural and semi-urban schools in India with the critical 21st-century skills, competencies and character qualities that are often left unaddressed while also addressing some country’s unique educational
Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR)
Amrita PAPR, an ultra-low-cost Powered Air Purifying Respirator alternative for frontline medical workers for COVID-19 response.he blower in a PAPR takes contaminated ambient air, passes it through a filter and supplies it into the hood on the user’s head
WE: Rural Toilet Builder-Community Sanitation ph2
Phase II of the Women’s Empowerment: Rural Toilet Builder and Community Sanitation Project scaled Phase I efforts to 21 states throughout India. WE: Sanitation II extended the initial phase of the program that was conducted from 2014-16.
Pepe the Social Robot – Pilot Project
Pepe is a hand-shaped robot with a small video screen mounted behind its green plastic exterior. Installed on a wall near school washrooms, its purpose is to interact with children as they pass by the sink and encourage them to practise proper handwashing.
NUF – 500 Filtration Systems
Water reserves in the state of Kerala were severely impacted by the 2018 floods that contaminated much of the drinking water supply and left almost all water resources in the state polluted and unsafe for use.
Amrita Unmanned Aerial Systems
Addressing the pressing need for a medical payload dropping solution deployable during disasters like the Kerala floods and the Uttarakhand flash floods that paralysed our nation and its people, Amrita University researchers have embarked on a targeted payload delivery system carried on a multirotor vertical take off and landing UAV.
The WISE Project
The environmental impact of the Kerala floods has been significant. Top soil in most affected areas has been completely washed off. The dwindling tree cover that barely held the top soil in place has been drastically reduced, triggering and triggered by landslides. Rivers and ground water sources have been polluted by debris, human and animal carcasses.
The NORRAG Project
AMMACHI Labs engaged in a multidimensional scoping study with the REAL Center of Witwatersrand University in South Africa, facilitated by NORRAG of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Switzerland, to better understand the dynamics of skill development among unreached populations and the role ICT plays.
WE:CSDP–Community Sanitation
The Women Empowerment: Community Sanitation through Democratic Participation (WE:CSDP) project (UDF-15-IND-667) was launched in February 2017. It is a two year, pan-India initiative jointly funded with the United Nations Democracy Fund. It aims to address the issues of inadequate community sanitation, women’s health,
Soil-Sampling Robot
In post-disaster scenarios, especially those dealing with soil contamination by hazardous materials, it is important that soil quality be measured without putting human lives at risk. Our engineers designed and implemented an autonomous soil sampling solution based on the platform for monitoring the presence of heavy metals in landfills.
Wearable Assistive Device
The AMMACHI Labs Rural Technologies team of engineers have designed and deployed a low-cost wearable assistive device for women in the rural villages (Dunda and Udalka) of Uttarakhand for assisting them to carry the conventionally used basket for carrying heavy loads
Cable Driven Robot for Assisting Coconut Dehusking
Coconut de-husking is a labor intensive and expensive process crucial to agricultural productivity in coconut growing states like Kerala which faces an acute shortage of farm labor. Faced with this problem, our engineers have developed a cable driven parallel robot for automating the process of coconut dehusking in large and medium sized farms.
“Ri-Cycle” Rice Transplanter
Rice saplings need to be planted with regular spacing to optimize water and nutrient intake. This process is very labor intensive and leads to back problems and repetitive stress injuries in the farm laborers.
2nd Foundation Project: Promoting Future Skills
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham collaborated with Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and School Education Department to complete a pilot project called “Redesigning Educational Pathways using Technology and Innovative Pedagogical Constructs for Scalable Quality Education and Lifelong Learning” in selected state model schools.
Exoskeleton Orthosis for Rehabilitation
Orci dapibus ultrices in iaculis.
The AMBA Balance Trainer
There is an emerging need for balance rehabilitation due to its growing population of elderly, diabetics and stroke patients. We designed a cost effective system in collaboration with the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Department of Amrita Hospital christened AMBA (Amrita Balance Trainer),
Bar Bending Simulator for L&T
All building constructions in India use construction rebars (steel concrete reinforcing bars) to provide structural reinforcement for concrete work. This necessitates experts in bending and cutting rebar to correctly size and bend the long steel rods before they can be installed.
MySangham Online Portal
mySangham is an online portal and community that will bring skill based education and employment within reach of everyone. The portal enables anyone to upload multilingual content that would be accessible to all especially the mobile-first, cloud-first generation.
E-Content for Skill Development
The project started with a grant from Ministry of Human Resource and Development (Govt. of India) to develop two vocational training courses and a haptic simulator for skill training. As one of the pillars of the National Mission on Education using ICT, this project since has been expanded to form a national level consortium to participate in the development of over 300 courses and simulators for various trades by 2017.
The Women Empowerment Project
The WE Project was funded jointly by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) and Amrita University. During an 18-month period (2012-2014),the WE Project offered computerized Vocational Education and Training(cVET) and Life Enrichment Education (LEE),
MoVE – Mobile Vocational Education
A solar powered classroom on wheels is what the MoVE project is all about. Skills training is the least accessible to those who stand to benefit the most from it. Making vocational education mobile may be one solution to this. In an effort to bring quality vocational education to the otherwise inaccessible regions of the diverse geography that India is, AMMACHI Labs conceptualised, designed and built a mobile vocational training center.
