AMMACHI Labs Launches Mushroom Cultivation Course in Dunda Village, Uttarakhand

2-12-2024 : Dunda Village, Uttarakhand — AMMACHI Labs’ Amrita COVID Community Resilience Resource Centre has inaugurated a comprehensive C-VET (Community Vocational Education and Training) course on mushroom cultivation, marking a significant step towards community empowerment. The program was launched on December 2, 2024, and has already garnered enthusiastic participation, with 29 women and 1 man enrolling in the course.

The training, which blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical sessions, focuses on cultivating the Wester Dingari mushroom, a highly sought-after variety in the local market. With its significant income-generating potential, this initiative aims to foster self-reliance and economic growth among participants.

Funded by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, the project underscores the importance of equipping local communities with sustainable livelihood opportunities. The initiative aligns with broader goals of empowering women by imparting valuable skills, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to their households and communities.
