AMMACHI Labs’ 2nd Foundation initiative focuses on imparting 21st-century skills to students
AMMACHI Labs’ 2nd Foundation initiative focuses on imparting 21st-century skills to students through its innovative Robotics, Computational Thinking, Maker skills, and Social problem-solving workshops. As part of this initiative, AMMACHI labs recently conducted a #ComputationalThinking summer vacation workshop for 9th and 10th standard students of Amrita Vidyalayam Thalassery.
The team was led by our senior researcher Unnikrishnan R. with his team members Sooraj K Babu and Parameswari Anitha. A batch of 65 students learned the basics of computer programming through the Scratch language in a fun and collaborative environment. The students are now trained in the development of games and interactive fiction, and also to view social issues through the lens of computational media.
The workshop culminated with a demo session where all the students presented their work to their peers and teachers. AMMACHI Labs plans to conduct more 2nd Foundation workshops in 2018 in collaboration with Amrita Vidyalayam Thalassery’s Atal Tinkering Lab and also plans to spread the workshops across the Amrita Vidyalayam network of 50+ schools throughout India.
