AMMACHI Labs conducted an extensive ‘Liquefied Petroleum Gas’ campaign yesterday at Golamba village in Madhya Pradesh. Our team is collaborating with the government in providing access to clean energy to these remote rural areas, with an aim to make these villages ‘ smoke-free’. The scheme launched by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is known as Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), where free LPG connections and accessories are given to women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) households.

After the #LPG outreach campaign yesterday at MP village, women from 100 families came today along with complete documents and got their application registered online. The village sarpanch, the distributor and District Nodal Officer, Indian Oil Corporation joined the campaign to speed up the process. The village Anganwadi worker from Rural Child Care Center confidently displayed the safety tips and precautions while using LPG cylinder.

The previous day before the event, our deployment team members went to many households to ascertain the eligibility aspects and to inform about the program. They also held meetings with Sarpanchs from our different adopted villages requesting them to spread the message to the community. A leading newspaper of Northern India ‘Nai Duniya’ reported the event.
