Project Summary:

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is an implementing agency for the Government of India’s Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) Special Project initiative. Under the PMKVY Special Project initiative, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham operates skill-training centers across five states: Kerala, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and, Jharkhand. As the Special Project initiative is designed to ensure that youth from remote and rural areas receive access to quality skill development, through Amrita-PMKVY, students from underserved communities now have access to state of the art skill training in critical, industry-relevant skills through its centers.

Amrita PMKVY Centers follow a “Hub and Spoke Deployment Model” to train, certify, place and empower working-age youth between the ages 18 and 35, struggling to access viable economic opportunities. The Hub of each district will manage the nearby spoke(s).

Towards the objective of establishing a culture of gender equality and equal opportunity, Amrita PMKVY reserves 50% of all seats for women struggling to find economic stability.

Courses offered through Amrita- PMKVY consist of the following: Automotive Service Technician (Two and Three Wheelers), Plumber General, Self Employed Tailor, General Duty Assistant, and Domestic Data Entry Operator.
