Amrita Serve Villages Celebrate Independence Day with Unity and Pride

August 15, 2025: Women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across Amrita Serve villages joined hands with local schools and Panchayats to celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day with enthusiasm and pride. The celebrations fostered a spirit of unity, sacrifice, and patriotism, while also deepening awareness of the historic struggles that secured the nation’s freedom.

Facilitators led discussions with women and children on the significance of Independence Day, highlighting the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and inspiring the younger generation to uphold these values.

📍 Highlights from the celebrations included:

  • Sarai Nooruddinpur, Uttar Pradesh: The event was graced by NRLM’s Block Mission Manager, Miss Mamta Ji, and the Gram Pradhan, who joined SHG women in commemorating the day.

  • Kalinagar, West Bengal: Facilitator Lipika paid tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Ji, sharing stories of his courage and dedication to India’s independence.

  • Maira, Punjab: Under the guidance of Facilitator Kokal, SHG women created posters and visual displays emphasizing the importance of Independence Day.

✨ In total, 75 women and 80 school children participated across the villages, making the celebration not just a remembrance of history but also a living expression of community spirit and collective pride.
