Women Excel in Tailoring Skills Assessment under Viswamrit Project in Karunagapally

Karunagapally, July 25–26, 2025 — Demonstrating dedication, discipline, and growing expertise, women participants of the Viswamrit Tailoring Project in Karunagapally successfully underwent a comprehensive skills assessment conducted by AMMACHI Labs of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

The two-day evaluation featured objective tests, viva voce interviews, and a hands-on practical exam, all designed to assess the participants’ progress in tailoring techniques, fabric handling, and design understanding. The results spoke volumes of their hard work, with many showcasing remarkable improvements in both technical skills and confidence.

The Viswamrit Tailoring Project is a collaborative initiative between Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and the Vishwakarma Navothan Foundation, aimed at empowering women through vocational education. By equipping them with tailoring skills, the project fosters self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for women in underserved communities.

From stitching basic garments to mastering complex patterns, the women of Karunagapally are now well on their way to becoming skilled artisans and micro-entrepreneurs — a testament to the transformative power of community-driven skill development.

The assessment marks a critical milestone in their journey, reaffirming that with the right support and training, women can stitch new narratives of empowerment, dignity, and economic independence.
