Design, prototyping and maker skills are much needed competencies to integrate into traditional school pedagogies. AMMACHI Labs’ Second foundation series of workshops reimagines education holistically, combining high technology with social and emotional learning (SEL) in five areas – Maker skills, Vulnerability Mapping, Computational Thinking, Robotics & Life Skills in schools and villages across India.

A Train the Trainer program for Maker workshops was conducted by the Amrita Makerspace instructors in January 2017 for 26 handpicked candidates. The goal was to prepare them to take the design and prototyping skills to 40 rural and tribal schools across Andhra Pradesh. This pilot program for workshops is planned to be scaled to reach 4000 students next year.

The Maker workshops kicked off with great enthusiasm in the Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh.
