Distribution of  Sewing Machines and Tailoring Certificates in Tigaon

January 2, 2024 – The ceremony for the distribution of certificates and 17 sewing machines to 4 business group formed by students from the Amrita Sankalp Tailoring Center in Tigaon Village, Faridabad (Haryana), took place today.

Tailoring certificates and four sewing machines were distributed to 43 women during the program in the presence of AMMACHI Labs Sankalp team staff members, including Vinod Singh Rawat, Harsh Tiwari, Arti, and Preeti.

The program’s chief guest, Sarpanch Vikram Pratap Singh of Tigaon Village, and special guests Veerpal Singh and Devraj Singh inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

The Tigaon training center is part of the SANKALP project (Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion), implemented across various parts of India by Amrita University in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The initiative aims to enhance short-term skill training programs for long-term benefits by strengthening institutions, improving market connectivity, and promoting the inclusion of marginalized sections of society.

Through these trainings, women have gained the skills and confidence needed to start their own businesses.
