Coimbatore, March 26, 2025 – Dr. Bhavani Rao, Director of AMMACHI Labs & The Center for Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality (CWEGE), and Dean of the Amrita School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, visited the 105th Rapid Action Force (RAF) Battalion at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Headquarters in Coimbatore. During her visit, Dr. Rao engaged in discussions with Mrs. Aparna, Acting Commander of the battalion, exploring avenues to integrate the “Sameekshanam – Be Calm, Be Compassionate” program within the CRPF framework.
The discussions centered on understanding the demographic composition, deployment scenarios, and the overall environment of CRPF personnel and their families. By identifying key areas of need, the conversation aimed to assess how the Sameekshanam initiative could provide tangible benefits to law enforcement officers, fostering a more resilient and compassionate force.
The Sameekshanam Project, spearheaded by CWEGE at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, focuses on mindfulness, gender harmony, and emotional resilience. Designed to equip paramilitary and police personnel with essential skills for managing stress and fostering compassion, the program promotes a more inclusive and emotionally intelligent law enforcement environment.
Launched in 2021, the Sameekshanam initiative provides officers with practical tools to navigate stress both in their professional duties and personal lives. Since its inception, the program has positively impacted tens of thousands of police and military personnel, beginning with the CRPF and later expanding to the Telangana State Special Police (TSSP).
Beyond stress management, Sameekshanam offers training in conflict resolution, family well-being, and financial management. The initiative’s holistic approach ensures a lasting impact, not only strengthening individuals but also contributing to the well-being of their families and communities.
Dr. Rao’s visit marks an important step in expanding the reach of Sameekshanam, reinforcing Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s commitment to fostering resilience and mindfulness within India’s paramilitary forces.
