April 26, 2025 – Dr. Bhavani Rao, Director of AMMACHI Labs and the Center for Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, visited Satara, Maharashtra, as part of an innovative Indo-Israeli collaborative project. The initiative brings together Amrita University, The Nitsan Lab at Tel Aviv University, global irrigation leader Netafim, and agricultural science company Bayer.
This interdisciplinary project focuses on working closely with local farming communities to gain deeper insights into their decision-making processes, irrigation techniques, and market dynamics. By combining academic research with grassroots engagement, the team aims to address real-world agricultural challenges and develop scalable, sustainable solutions.
Through field visits, farmer interviews, and data-driven analysis, the collaboration seeks to improve water use efficiency, boost crop yield and quality, and refine advisory services for farmers. The effort is being supported through local #BetterLifeFarmingCentres—rural hubs that provide essential training and tools for better farming outcomes.
By partnering with farmers and leveraging global expertise, the project is helping to build resilient agricultural systems and promote sustainable practices that benefit both communities and the environment.
