Elephant Watch Alert System at GPAI summit

December 12-14, 2023 – Projects from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham were selected to exhibit technologies with Artificial Intelligence components at the “Global Partnership on AI (GPAI) Summit”, held by The Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) in New Delhi.

The event was inaugurated by the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. AMMACHI Labs had an entry named “ElephantWatch: AI-Enhanced Early Alert System”. It is a proof of concept developed by the RuralTechnologies team at AMMACHI Labs. It is a Two-tier detection system using sensors and AI Cameras to avoid crop damage and property destruction by wild elephants, while protecting the animals’ lives and striving for sustainable coexistence with them.

The project was selected to display a 3D model of its design, developed by Shyamlal from the AMMACHI Labs team. Balu and Ramakrishnan attended the exhibit and presented the work.

The Amrita stall received the visits of Mr Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution; Dr Maneesha, Provost of Amrita University; and Mr Vilas Dhar, President & Trustee of the The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation.
