Garhani, Bihar – August 7, 2025 – From August 1st to 7th, nine women from Morasia village, already equipped with basic tailoring skills, participated in an intensive 7-day training program in Garhani. The initiative, supported by the government, focused on stitching school uniforms—a skill now in high demand due to a new state policy mandating that all uniforms for Bihar’s government school children be stitched and supplied locally.
This policy shift is opening doors for women across rural Bihar to access sustainable livelihood opportunities. On the final day of training, participants underwent a practical skills assessment. We are proud to announce that five women from Morasia excelled and were selected for the next phase—receiving official uniform stitching orders. 🎉
This achievement is the direct outcome of consistent efforts by Amrita SeRVe staff in close collaboration with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). Together, they are working to ensure income generation, skill development, and empowerment for women in remote communities.
This was the first training batch in the program, with similar sessions scheduled every three months, promising continued opportunities for women to step into stable, income-generating roles.
