International Women’s Day Spotlight: Celebrating an Outstanding Amrita Alumna

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham proudly celebrates the achievements of one of its distinguished alumnae, Soumya Susan John, whose inspiring journey reflects determination, service, and excellence in STEM and leadership.

Soumya Susan John, an alumna of the Robotics and Automation program at AMMACHI Labs, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, has successfully graduated from the Canadian Armed Forces’ Basic Military Officer Qualification (BMOQ) and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on March 5, 2026.

Prior to this milestone, Soumya joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as an engineer. She recently completed the Canadian Forces’ intensive 12-week officer training program at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School in Quebec, a rigorous training designed to prepare future leaders of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Her journey from a Robotics and Automation graduate at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham to becoming a commissioned officer and engineer in the Royal Canadian Air Force highlights the growing global impact of women in science, technology, engineering, and leadership roles.

As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, Soumya’s achievement stands as an inspiring example for young women aspiring to pursue careers in STEM and public service. Her story reflects the spirit of perseverance and commitment that continues to empower women to break barriers and make meaningful contributions across disciplines and borders.
