Researchers awarded Doctoral Degrees at Amrita Convocation 2023

The 2023 Amrita Convocation was held at the Amritapuri campus. A total of 1668 students from the various schools at the University were conferred degrees during this momentous ceremony. Among whom, were distinguished researchers from the Center for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality CWEGE, and the Amrita School of Social and Behavioural Sciences who were awarded their PhD degrees under the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Commerce and the School of Social and Behavioural Sciences.

The recipients of these prestigious doctoral degrees from CWEGE were: Srividya Sheshadri, Yamuna Sandrine Bonin, Kripasagar Chris Coley, and Parvathy V.

  • Srividya’s thesis was: An Implementation Science approach to empowerment-oriented vocational education
  • Parvathy’s thesis: Alcohol use in tribal community: An exploration of resilience among Paniya community of Valaramkunnu region, Kerala, India.
  • Yamuna’s thesis: Women socio economic entrepreneuring ecosystem in rural India.
  • Kripasagar’s thesis: The Necessity of Engaging Men: An Implementation Sciences approach to Women’s Empowerment

The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Minister of Law and Justice of India, who served as the Chief Guest. Dr. Harrick Vin, Chief Services Innovation Officer at Tata Consultancy Services, was the Guest of Honor. Dr. Rajesh Gupta, a Professor at the Embedded Microsystems University of California San Diego, also participated in the event. Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri delivered the benedictory address, and Dr. Manoj P, Campus Director, shared his thoughts with the gathered audience.

Chancellor Amma’s message of compassion and service to humanity was a prominent theme during the convocation. It emphasized the importance of using education to make a positive impact on the world, guiding the new graduates in their academic journeys. This compassionate ethos will shape their character as they prepare to contribute to society.

The Amrita Convocation 2023 was an inspiring and proud moment, particularly for our esteemed researchers.
