Sankalp Project: 70% placement target for certified students reached

We are proud to announce that the Amrita Sankalp project has achieved the placement target of  70% of the total students who received certificates after successfully completing their training at the centers!

The numbers will continue to rise in the coming weeks. On February 3, 2024, the numbers were as follows :

85 centers created (174 batches) throughout India.
6 States covered: Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Faridabad-Haryana, Delhi.
8 various courses offered: 8 (Tailoring, Embroidery, Beautician, Mushroom Grover, Beekeeping, Organic grower, Seaweed, General Duty Assistant (GDA).
4468 students registered at the centers.
3658 students received training.
3460 students successfully passed the courses and received certificates  (Not a final number. More are yet to be completed).
2595 certified students got placement (70% of the total students) and started their own business as self employed individuals (200) or as a business group (2395).

The SANKALP project (Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion project), initiated in March 2022 and concluded in November 2023, was a program by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). It was implemented in various parts of India by Amrita University, with the aim to boost short term Skill Training programs for long term benefits through strengthening institutions, bringing in better market connectivity and inclusion of marginalized sections of the society. Through the training, women gained the skills and confidence they needed to start their own businesses.
