Soliyakudi Village, May 22, 2025 – In honor of World Biodiversity Day, AMMACHI Labs organized a meaningful community event in Soliyakudi Village to raise awareness about the urgent need to protect local biodiversity. The event brought together villagers in a spirit of shared responsibility and environmental commitment, highlighting the vital role grassroots communities play in conservation efforts.

The event was coordinated by Ms. Surya, AMMACHI Labs’ newly appointed field staff member, whose leadership and dedication were instrumental to its success. Under her guidance, seventeen women from the village actively took part in the event, demonstrating a strong and heartfelt commitment to safeguarding their natural surroundings.

A central moment of the day was the collective recitation of a biodiversity pledge, a powerful affirmation of environmental stewardship:

“I pledge to protect the biodiversity of my village—from land to sea.
I will care for the plants, animals, and ecosystems that give us life.
I will share my knowledge with others and teach my children to love and respect nature.
Together, we are the guardians of our environment.
Together, we will grow, protect, and thrive.”

This emotional and empowering pledge resonated deeply with the participants, many of whom expressed a renewed sense of purpose and responsibility toward protecting their local ecosystems—from coastal waters to agricultural fields.
