Survival of the fittest or survival of the nicest? PhD researchers, faculty and staff were treated to a special guest lecture, by Professor Oren Harman on December 26, 2022 at Shraddha Hall. The topic of the lecture was “The Price of Altruism, or Where Kindness Comes From” and Prof. Harman presented about the paradox of altruism in consideration of the evolutionary origins of genuine benevolence.

Professor Oren Harman is a renowned historian and philosopher of science and writer. He teaches at the Graduate Program in Science, Technology and Society at Bar Ilan University and is Senior Research Fellow at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute.

Prof. Harman and his wife, Dr. Yael Harman, a microbiologist and environmental scientist were visiting Kerala and also stopped by Amrita Hospital and met with other Amrita departments.
