Sreeram Kongeseri and Christopher Coley presented their paper on games for community engagement and social problem-solving at the Annual Recent Research in Social Sciences International Conference (SOCSIC 2017) in Bangkok (Sept 5 – Sept 7). Empowerment interventions often take a long time to see results. One of the major constraints is the time taken to build relationship and trust between community stakeholders to discuss and design interventions. There is a huge requirement for a low risk, low barrier platform for facilitating this process. Here, games are used as a platform to facilitate this process by taking advantage of the ‘magic circle of play’ most games produce. Results of the test done at multiple sites across India are also discussed. Amrita University #SOCSIC #gamification
