Kolkata, August 19, 2026: A new chapter in experiential STEM education began at Amrita Vidyalayam, Kolkata, with the launch of the 2nd Foundation’s Year-Long School STEM Program (YLSSP). The initiative aims to provide students with opportunities to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through hands-on learning, experimentation and creative problem-solving.
The programme began with an orientation session for students, introducing them to the objectives of YLSSP and offering an overview of the activities and learning experiences planned for the year ahead. The orientation provided students with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the programme and the hands-on approach that will guide their STEM journey.
Dedicated STEM Space Inaugurated
The programme reached an important milestone on August 19, 2026, with the formal inauguration of a dedicated STEM learning space at the school.
The inauguration was held in the presence of Dr. Krishna Daripa, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Sarsuna College; Bri. Priya, Principal of Amrita Vidyalayam, Kolkata; school teachers; and members of the YLSSP team.
The dedicated space is designed to support students as they engage in practical activities, experiments and collaborative learning throughout the programme.
Learning Through Exploration
Over the course of the year, students will be introduced to STEM concepts through experiential learning, hands-on activities, creative problem-solving and real-world applications. The programme seeks to move beyond conventional classroom learning by encouraging students to ask questions, experiment with ideas and develop solutions through practical engagement.
The year-long format will provide students with opportunities to progressively build their understanding and confidence while exploring different aspects of STEM.
The launch also marks the beginning of a collaborative learning journey involving students, teachers and programme facilitators, with the school serving as a space for curiosity, experimentation and discovery.
Building a Culture of Curiosity
The YLSSP initiative seeks to nurture curiosity and creativity among young learners while helping them develop skills that can support future learning and problem-solving.
The programme team expressed appreciation to the Principal, teachers and staff of Amrita Vidyalayam, Kolkata for their support and collaboration in bringing the initiative to the school.
