Rural women at Sarai Nooruddin, Allahabad finds basket weaving as one way to improve their livelihood. Thank you Torrey Witherspoon for the ‘gift basket research’ and motivation. Meet our #SHG president Rekha Devi with beautiful, multicolored baskets made out of nylon strings. The green one is made of naturally available ‘Darbha’ grass. Initially Rekha had no clue how a basket is made, tried herself and stumbled 2-3 times, nearly perfected thereafter. It was necessary for her to start on something to support her large family. Now more SHG members are keen on it, like other village women already on this.
