September 27, 2026: In celebration of the birthday of Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma), observed this year as Vishwa Seva Dinam – a Day of Selfless Service, members of AMMACHI Labs’ field teams brought together more than 100 community members across Rajasthan, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
The gatherings provided an opportunity for communities to come together in the spirit of compassion, unity and seva, while reflecting on the values of selfless service and care for others.
Community Gatherings Across Three States
Vishwa Seva Dinam activities were organised at the Women’s Empowerment (WE) Centers in Harsani and Girab, Rajasthan, as well as in the Amrita SeRVe villages of Morasia and Ratanpur in Bihar and Sarai Nooruddinpur in Uttar Pradesh.
Across the participating communities, villagers learned more about Amma’s life and her message of compassion, selflessness and respect for all forms of life. The gatherings encouraged participants to reflect on the importance of caring for one another, strengthening communities and protecting the natural environment.
Seva in Action
In Bihar, the spirit of selfless service was put into practice through a community cleanup drive. Villagers worked together to clean their surroundings and contribute to a healthier and more pleasant community environment.
The activity demonstrated how simple collective actions can translate the values of seva into meaningful community participation, while also encouraging greater awareness of environmental responsibility.
Celebrating Through Service
The Vishwa Seva Dinam gatherings transformed Amma’s birthday celebrations into opportunities for community engagement, reflection and action. Rather than being limited to celebration, the activities encouraged participants to experience and practise the values of compassion, selflessness and service in their own communities.
Through these gatherings across Rajasthan, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, community members came together to celebrate Amma’s birthday while reaffirming the importance of caring for people, communities and the natural world.
Vishwa Seva Dinam 2026 brought communities together with a shared message: service begins with compassion and grows through collective action.
