Morasia Village, Bihar, August 27, 2024 – Taking a significant step toward sustainability, 15 women from Morasia village have joined hands to promote nutrition, income generation, and environmental conservation through fruit tree plantation.
Last month, the village facilitator submitted the women’s names to the Horticulture Department, requesting support for fruit-bearing plants. Responding to the initiative, the department delivered 60 saplings on August 25, which were distributed among the women with the support of our team.
An awareness and distribution program was organized to highlight the multiple benefits of fruit trees—not only as a vital source of nutrition but also as a means to enhance long-term income opportunities and strengthen the local ecosystem.
The distributed varieties included Guava, Mango, Lemon, and Amla—fruits known for their high nutritional content and adaptability to rural agro-climatic conditions. By August 27, the women had collectively planted the saplings in their courtyards and fields, pledging to nurture and protect them.
This grassroots initiative represents more than just tree planting. It promotes community-led afforestation, food security, and women’s empowerment, setting a strong example of sustainable rural development.
