Ramanathapuram, June 6, 2025 — As part of their ongoing efforts to promote coastal sustainability and community-driven innovation, members of AMMACHI Labs conducted field visits to the coastal villages of Thondi, Thiruppalaikudi, and Soliyakudi in Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram district. The team engaged directly with villagers and women beneficiaries, observing firsthand the progress of ongoing seagrass restoration efforts.
These interactions offered invaluable grassroots-level insights and sparked a wave of student-led innovation ideas, including:
🔹 Transforming seagrass debris into organic fertilizers
🔹 Designing sustainable waste management systems tailored for coastal communities
🔹 Developing tools to assist seagrass planting during high tide conditions
The visit also witnessed a powerful moment of solidarity in Thiruppalaikudi, where the women beneficiaries made a heartfelt Promise to Stay United and Work Together—a moving testament to the collective spirit that drives AMMACHI Labs’ mission.
These field visits not only deepen AMMACHI Labs’ understanding of local needs but also strengthen the bridge between technology, tradition, and women-led environmental action.
