Kollam, Kerala – September 4, 2024: The Center for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality (CWEGE), Amritapuri, in collaboration with the Vishwakarma Navothan Foundation, conducted a life skills training session on non-verbal communication for tailoring students in Punalur, Kollam district. The session was led by Trainer Remya and coordinated by T.S. Shalini, Zonal Coordinator.
The workshop brought together 13 women participants from the Vishwakarma community, offering them insights into the critical role of non-verbal cues in effective communication.
Program Highlights:
The interactive session covered the different types of non-verbal communication, emphasizing their importance in creating first impressions, regulating the flow of conversations, and expressing emotions. A Memory Test Activity was conducted to demonstrate the challenges of distracted listening, enabling participants to experience firsthand how attention impacts communication outcomes.
Objective:
The primary aim was to deepen participants’ understanding of non-verbal communication and its significance in both personal and community contexts.
Outcomes:
The session empowered Self-Help Group (SHG) members with practical skills to enhance their interpersonal effectiveness, contributing to stronger governance and growth within their SHGs.
