Wadi Communities Across Odisha Mark World Environment Day 2026 with Collective Action for a Greener Future

Odisha | June 2026

In celebration of World Environment Day 2026, Wadi communities across Odisha came together to reaffirm their commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainable livelihoods, and climate resilience through a series of community-led initiatives.

Farmers, Community Resource Persons (CRPs), women leaders, and local community members from Asanabania, Kharmul, Bramhaniapal, Gobardhanpur, Tantichira, and Kanaka actively participated in tree plantation drives, village clean-up campaigns, and awareness programs focused on climate-resilient agriculture and responsible natural resource management.

As part of the celebrations, mango and cashew saplings were planted across Wadi orchards, contributing to increased green cover, enhanced biodiversity, and the long-term sustainability of orchard-based farming systems. These efforts not only support environmental conservation but also strengthen livelihood opportunities for farming communities.
