Bangalore, June 12–13, 2025 — AMMACHI Labs, in collaboration with inspiring women from its Ocean Farming Project, made a memorable debut at the Incredible Chef Challenge 2025 held in Bangalore. The two-day food expo brought together culinary professionals, innovators, and enthusiasts from across the country — and AMMACHI Labs’ stall stood out with a unique, ocean-inspired creation.
At the heart of their display was the Devaamritam Seaweed Superfood Pickle, a nutritious and flavorful offering developed by women from coastal communities. Rakkini and Gnanasowndari from Olaikuda Village, and Dhanalakshmi from Sambai Village, confidently represented their communities and shared the story behind this innovative product. Visitors were intrigued by the idea of a seaweed-based pickle — a novelty in the Indian culinary landscape — and praised its distinctive taste and health benefits.
The experience was both empowering and transformative for the women participants, many of whom were stepping outside their villages — and even their districts — for the first time. Their presence at such a prestigious platform was a true reflection of resilience, growth, and the potential of community-based enterprises.
“This event wasn’t just about the food,” said a team member from AMMACHI Labs. “It was about stories, empowerment, and courage. These women brought more than a product — they brought their dreams, dedication, and determination.”
In addition to showcasing their product, the team engaged with renowned chefs, food industry leaders, and entrepreneurs, opening up promising possibilities for collaboration and scale. Valuable feedback was received, sparking new ideas for packaging, distribution, and culinary innovations with seaweed.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Chef Baranidharan Pacha of Transgreen Agro, whose support made AMMACHI Labs’ participation possible. His belief in the women’s potential and their seaweed-based innovation was key to this remarkable journey.
As the team returned home, they carried with them not just memories, but new skills, inspiration, and a renewed sense of purpose — ready to take their sustainable seaweed products to greater heights.
