Certificates to Tailoring Students – Sankalp – Madurai & Palamedu

January 7, 2024 – The ceremony of distribution of certificates to students from the Amrita Sankalp Tailoring center of Amritavidyalayam Madurai and the Amrita Sankalp Tailoring center Palamedu, took place today at the MA Math Madurai.

Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri handed over the certificates to 29 students from the Amritavidyalayam Madurai centre and 18 students from the Palamedu, who have successfully completed the training.

The two tailoring center were part of the SANKALP project (Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion project), implemented in various parts of India by Amrita University in collaboration with Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship MSDE, Government of India, and the National Skill Development Corporation NSDC, to boost short term Skill Training programs for long term benefits through strengthening institutions, bringing in better market connectivity and inclusion of marginalized sections of the society. Through the trainings, women gained the skills and confidence they needed to start their own businesses.
