November 2024: AMMACHI Labs’ Amrita COVID Community Resilience Resource Centre (CCRRC) recently concluded a two-week pre-training program in Dunda Village, Uttarakhand, aimed at empowering women to embark on entrepreneurial journeys and equipping them with essential skills for sustainable business management.

The program provided a comprehensive curriculum covering key areas such as:

  • Goal Setting: Helping participants define clear and achievable objectives.
  • Business Venture Identification: Exploring potential entrepreneurial opportunities.
  • Cost & Pricing Strategies: Understanding profit margins and competitive pricing.
  • Customer Service Training: Emphasizing customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Risk Management: Educating on identifying and mitigating business risks.
  • Team Building & Savings: Highlighting the importance of collaboration and financial planning.

The initiative culminated in a unanimous decision among the participants to pursue mushroom cultivation as their chosen business venture. Inspired by the training, 30 women have already enrolled in the Center for Vocational Education and Training (C-VET) practical training course, set to commence on December 3, 2024.

Funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, this project aligns with AMMACHI Labs’ mission to foster resilience, self-reliance, and economic empowerment in rural communities. By enabling women with skills and resources, the program aims to build sustainable livelihoods and pave the way for gender equality in entrepreneurship.
