“Empowering Women Through #AMMACHILab’s #WADI #MushroomCultivation Projects: A Tale of Success and Economic Empowerment”

April 2nd, 2024, a significant development occurred in the Ammachilab’s ,Wadi, Mushroom Cultivation projects, bringing smiles to the faces of the participating women as they began harvesting and reaping the rewards of their hard work and dedication.

Specifically, in locations such as Gobardhanpur and Bileikhali, the women involved in the project successfully sold a total of 98 kilograms of mushrooms to local traders. Additionally, members of the WADI group in #Kansara achieved an impressive earnings figure of Rs. 19,000 from their mushroom cultivation efforts.

The success of these projects can be attributed to the implementation efforts of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s AMMACHI Labs, which provided the necessary training, resources, and support to enable women to engage in mushroom cultivation as a sustainable livelihood option. Furthermore, the projects received support from organizations such as ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) and NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development), highlighting the importance of collaboration and partnerships in promoting agricultural initiatives and empowering rural communities.

Overall, the positive outcomes observed in the Wadi MushroomCultivation projects underscore the potential of such initiatives to uplift communities, generate income, and foster economic empowerment among women in rural areas.
