Empowering Women: Celebrating Success in KharmulVillage’s MushroomCultivation Project

April 4th, 2024, there was a joyous occasion in KharmulVillage as the women participating in Ammachi Labs ‘ Mushroom Cultivation project celebrated their first phase of harvesting. Their faces were bright with smiles as they witnessed the tangible results of their efforts.

In just two days, these women managed to earn an impressive Rs. 8,400 from selling the mushrooms they cultivated. This quick turnaround in earnings reflects not only their hard work but also the viability and profitability of mushroom cultivation as a sustainable livelihood option.

The success of this project can be attributed to the implementation efforts of AmritaUniversity’s AMMACHILabs, which provided the necessary training, resources, and support to empower women in KharmulVillage to engage in mushroom cultivation. Furthermore, the project received support from organizations such as #ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) and NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development), highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting agricultural initiatives and economic empowerment in rural areas.

Overall, this success story showcases how initiatives like the #MushroomCultivation project can uplift communities, provide financial stability, and empower women to take charge of their economic well-being
