Krishna(Haryana) strongly feels that AMMACHI Labs’ programs will strengthen social and economic independence of women in the community
Krishna lives in Kanti Village, Haryana. She and her family find endure many hardships due to lack of steady income. She has a 10th grade education and always aspired to contribute to her family’s financial stability, but didn’t know how. It was then, she heard about AMMACHI Labs’ #LifeSkills and #VocationalSkills programs and was eager to find out more.
At first there was a lot of resistance to learning toilet building as there were a lot of false perceptions about it. However, with community support and motivation from women leaders, they took up the training, and also acquired valuable knowledge and skills in toilet building, health, and basic sanitation at village level. They also got opportunity to learn #sokftskills through computers and tablets.
Krishna says, “As an individual with raised awareness, I promoted this feeling in the community that if we need freedom from dirt and filth and if we want our girls to be safe, we all must participate in addressing the issues. I could motivate other groups of women from another pocket of the village to take part in the learning and in building toilets for the community”. Krishna strongly feels that AMMACHI Labs’ programs will strengthen social and economic independence of women in the community. #lifeskills #sanitation #womenpower #empowerment
