Kollam, Kerala – September 6, 2024: The Center for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality (CWEGE), Amritapuri, in collaboration with the Vishwakarma Navothan Foundation, conducted a life skills session on leadership for tailoring students at the Punalur center. The session was led by Trainer Remya and coordinated by T.S. Shalini, Zonal Coordinator.
The program engaged 22 women participants from the Vishwakarma community, focusing on developing effective leadership skills within Self-Help Group (SHG) programs.
Program Highlights:
The session involved reflective exercises where participants considered leaders they admire, discussing the strengths and weaknesses of these leaders. This approach helped participants identify key leadership qualities and understand how to apply them in SHG governance and collaborative activities.
Objective:
The training aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of essential leadership traits, encouraging discussions on different leadership styles, and empowering women to take active and effective roles within their SHGs.
Outcomes:
Through the “Leaders You Admire” activity, participants gained insights into desirable leadership qualities and were inspired to adopt these traits in their own roles. The session strengthened SHG governance, fostered leadership awareness, and motivated participants to contribute more effectively to the collective growth and success of their groups.
By equipping women with leadership skills, CWEGE and the Vishwakarma Navothan Foundation continue to promote empowered, capable, and confident SHG members within local communities.
