Smiles in Odisha – new SANKALP centre

AMMACHI Labs SANKALP, Success Stories, Village Update

😁It was all smiles in Odisha when the first SANKALP training centre was inaugurated in the Dhenkanal district. The centre is also a site for our activities for the WADI Project in the region. We were very honored to have several local dignitaries including Smt. Mamata Behera, Sarpanch of Bampa (elected leader) inaugurate the training centre at Brahmaniapal. We were very heartened to have the support of a local woman leader in the region which is very fitting for our women’s empowerment endeavors.

Along with her, Saroj Nayak, local Executive Officer, Balaram Behera, Agricultural Extension officer, Bijay Kumar Behera, Postal officer, and Pravat Behera husband of the Sarpanch, also participated in the inaugural function. Over 40 women and community members participated in the ceremony on October 26, 2022.

The Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) will boost short term skill training programs for long term benefits through strengthening institutions, bringing in better market connectivity and inclusion of marginalized sections of the society.

The WADI Project aims to create and implement a comprehensive strategy for the long-term development of 500 tribal households in nine villages in the Hindol block of Odisha’s Dhenkanal District. Funded by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Finance, Government of India this project will greatly impact the tribal belts in rural Odisha.
