Rajanga Village, Odisha – April 23, 2025 — A Training and Capacity Building Programme on goat rearing was successfully conducted for 36 women from the Goat Rearing Group (GRG) at the Rajanga Community Center, marking a significant stride toward sustainable livelihoods and women’s empowerment in rural Odisha.
The day began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a prayer—an inclusive moment that brought together participants, guests, and villagers, setting a respectful and heartfelt tone for the sessions that followed.
The training covered key areas essential to successful goat rearing, including:
Local goat procurement
Health and nutrition management
Disease prevention and vaccination
Goat shed construction and maintenance
The sessions were led by technical experts from NABARD, the Veterinary Department, and the AMMACHI Labs WADI Project. Their practical insights and interactive methods engaged participants throughout the day.
With goat distribution and shed construction scheduled ahead of the monsoon, the program is expected to directly benefit 51 households across Rajanga and Chhadoi villages. These activities are part of a broader initiative implemented by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, with support from NABARD Online, to promote resilience and self-reliance in rural communities.
This initiative not only strengthens income generation but also uplifts women’s roles in economic development—laying a foundation for long-term transformation in the region.
