August 5, 2025 – Members of AMMACHI Labs held an engaging awareness session in Thondi with 10 participants from the ongoing Seaweed Cultivation and Ocean Farming projects. The session aimed to deepen community understanding of marine biodiversity and highlight the importance of preserving marine life for sustainable livelihoods.
As part of the program, women were trained in the correct method of tube-tying seaweed—a vital skill for ensuring healthy and productive cultivation cycles. The team also gathered valuable feedback and community insights to better align project support with the needs of local women and their enterprises.
Quoting Amma, “Our highest, most important duty in this world is to help our fellow beings,” the initiative reflects AMMACHI Labs’ commitment to building both ecological awareness and economic resilience.
The Ocean Farming projects are implemented by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in partnership with the Transworld Group, GEF Small Grants Programme Operational Phase 7, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
