January 16, 2024 – Certificates and sewing machines were distributed today to students from three Amrita Sankalp centers north of Ernakulam, who all successfully completed the training courses at the centers.
Bri. Karunyamrita of M.A. Math handed out the certificates to the following students:
Five sewing machines were also distributed each to two business groups recently established by tailoring students from Pizhala.
This came under the SANKALP project (Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion project), a program of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), implemented in various parts of India by Amrita University, to boost short term Skill Training programs for long term benefits through strengthening institutions, bringing in better market connectivity and inclusion of marginalized sections of the society. Through the training, women gained the skills and confidence they needed to start their own businesses.
