Open House: Electrified at AMMACHI Labs
“Electrified at AMMACHI Labs.”
AMMACHI Labs hosted its first Open House at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on Saturday, Nov 12, 2022. Around 100 BTech/MTech/BCA/MCA students came through for a tour and hands-on demo of various technological innovations. Many students commented on what an amazing and rich experience it was. AMMACHI Labs Labs researchers and faculty members including Gayathri, Deepu, Ashish, Jayadev, Dr. Ekaterina, Prajwal, Pranav, Mahesh, Sreejith, Radhika S, and Dr. Sashikanth hosted the event along with Ramakrishna, Ruthwik, and Sarang who are currently doing their internship at AMMACHI Labs.
Students got to experience Virtual Reality with Oculus Quest, Augmented Reality with Microsoft Hololens, full body haptic experience with Tesla Suit, force feedback haptics with the bar bending simulator and Novint Falcon. The students interacted with a drone in real-life and in simulation by controlling it with gestures, interacted with HaKsh-E, the social robot which promotes handwashing behaviour among young children, played Unity 3D games and simulations, learnt about the work we do in CWEGE and played the new empathy game that Dr. Ekaterina shared with everyone. The palpable enthusiasm among the steady stream of students visiting the lab was infectious – as the day progressed, more and more students poured in. The GAD team pampered everyone with plenty of delicious Indian chai and snacks throughout the whole day. Our goal to communicate and celebrate our technology centered research was beautifully accomplished leaving everyone wanting for more.
